DON'T BE VAGUE MR. HAGUE! BLOCK BRIT TRAVEL TO EGYPT NOW

Julian Bray Travel Commentator demands that William Hague immediately invokes a travel ban to Egypt for British Citizens as worried families are losing thousands of pounds in cancellation fees

Julian Bray Travel Expert comments: Following President Mubaraks decision to stay in office in Egypt and UK Foreign Secretary William Hagues comments on television immediately after the Mubarak broadcast, holidaymakers heading towards the Egyptian coastal resorts in the next days and weeks will be dismayed to learn that if they decide in view of the political situation not to travel anywhere near Egypt they will still be charged up to 90% cancellation fees by firms such as Thomas Cook and TUI which represents a clutch of UK and European high street travel chains.

Unless William Hague specifically bans British subjects from travelling to the country of Egypt; no refunds will be made by the holiday firms although alternative holidays may at their discretion be offered.

A refusal to take up the alternative holiday, will still mean in many cases the cancellation fee remains in place. As Egypt has been at a standstill for the last 17 days , nothing has moved and Hotels are running very short of esssential supplies and basic medical needs.

Already news agencies are reporting tonight, armed attacks by unidentified forces on government buildings in the Egyptian coastal regions.

Julian Bray added: "My strong and urgent advice to Holidaymakers is to avoid Egypt at all costs whilst President Mubarak clings to power and urgently lobby your UK Member of Parliament to get the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to urgently amend their advice to travellers and to enable holiday cancellation insurance to be fully activated. The first British holidaymaker returned in a bodybag from an Egyptian holiday resort will be the sudden end of this Coalition Government."

Cork Airport Commuter Plane Crashes in Fog. Reported 6 dead

Cork Airport, Commuter Plane Crashes in Fog in front of Passenger Terminal
Relatives Information Number +44 28904 27004

Thursday 10th February 2011. There were ten passengers and two crew on the Manx2 commuter plane which is still on fire. Airport firefighters were busy battling the flames and other crews were reporting to the scene from across the county. The Irish Aviation Authority said 9 passengers and 3 crew The aircraft is a Manx2 Metroliner SW4 light aircraft on a regular air commuter run.

Julian Bray Aviation Expert (01733 345581 ISDN 01733 555319) comments: The plane, Metroline SW4 commuter aircraft, had set off from the Northern ireland George Best Belfast Airport at 8.12 am before it tried to land twice (at two different runways 17 and 35 Headings:170 degrees and 350 degrees ie at right angles) then crashed on the third attempted landing at Cork Airport in Ireland. Apparently alternative airports were also fogbound and it is not clear if the Pilot had enough fuel on board to reach those alternative landing points. Latest images suggest that the aircraft flipped over on its back, landing wheels pointing upwards and that the entire nose section has detached. Rescue workers are attempting to free (cut out) the two remaining passengers still inside the cabin.

Cork County Council Spokesman said: 'It was a light aircraft with 9 passengers and 3 crew on board and the current situation is that there are two confirmed fatalities. 'There were two serious injuries and two walking wounded. Emergency services are currently on the scene. Later reports say that 6 people were killed and 6 injured with 4 walking away although injures from the wreckage. A major incident (MI) was declared, and all MI hospitals and emergency resources alerted/deployed. Cork Airport is known for having "challenging weather conditions."

Taxpayers Bankrolling Bankers Trade Association and Tony Blairs Former Spin Doctor

Former Tory MP Angela Knight who these days styles herself as the chief executive of the Bankers own cosy back street trade association (?) the grandly named British Bankers (aka Banksters)Association [BBA] and sports a line of floral suits that would put Max Jaffa out of business and upstage the loose covers on my dear departed Grannys sofa, has tired of telling whopping media porkies on behalf of poor downtrodden banksters and roped in Tim Allen, Tony Blairs former very expensive spin doctor and his outfit Portland (not the cement mind, although, a few bags and a couple of chains could plant the entire banking fraternity 'Soprano style' on the bed of the River Thames just out of fingertip reach of their massive bonuses...)

The irony is that UK taxpayer owned banks such as RBS and TSB LLoyds are in part funding this upscale mega spin operation and the target of the spinners? The coalition government back bench numpties, who may enjoy a few discreet lunches, trips to the races, facility visits (Davos in the ski season - natch!) they may then have conveniently forgotten that UK taxpayers bailed out the banking money train in the first place and is now indirectly funding the spinners from Portland.....and Ms Knights own stipend to boot..'Nice Job' as David Letterman would say...

Egypt Tourists Denied Package Tour Refunds...say Travel Commentator Julian Bray

Tunis, Tunisa by Night still good to go say the package holiday firms..

The Government of Dubai has appointed a PR Consultancy in the UK to" promote the emirate as a tourist destination", all fine and dandy and no doubt Tui and Thomas Cook are rubbing their hands with glee thinking of all the new business being created, but is this the same emirate on the verge of bankruptcy and rescheduling debts? More correctly the debt mountain is called Dubai World. A huge port operator, likely to be hit by the trouble in Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt possibly Morocco. Let alone Somalia but let us not go there!

If the Suez canal closes, the tumble weed could soon be blowing through many of its ports. Dubai already had to be bailed out by a neighbour and they are not yet out of the woods so to speak. The trouble is that if you book one of these long-haul seemingly dream locations, as many UK families with Egyptian holidays coming up in the next few weeks have done, they'll find that unless the politicans place a blanket ban on UK citizens travelling to a riot hit, war torn destination, little in the way of a holiday refund is forthcoming. Thomas Cook say they review matters weekly, but if the Coalition Government does not stop us travelling, expect to only get back 10 percent of what you paid several months ago.

To be fair it is not only Thomas Cook and Tui but just about every major package holiday company. Expect several of them to go under this year (so always pay the invoice or part of it - at least £100- using your Visa Credit Card - gettng a refund back from the credit card co. is much easier using the provisions of the Consumer Credit Act, than going the ABTA ATOL route!) and many of the Hotel groups servicing the UK and European influx to not exactly put out the welcome mat, but more to bite your arm off. These resorts are hurting, debts are mounting and as Egyptian politicians have been suggesting that outside western influence is behind the unrest, then safety becomes a factor to be considered even in resorts once considered safe.

Governments seek to protect trade and property, life is always a relatively cheap commodity. Not my words but a well honed economic theory. Just think on that next time you book or consider a holiday which starts and ends in the UK. All of a sudden a cruise does seem to be not only inexpensive but far less hassle. I'm off on one mid-February, on a huge almost new ship, its priced in US dollars and in the USA they've yet to hear of Value Added Tax, well for on-board purchases anyway.

I'll even take a few suits and get the on board laundry to do the dry cleaning. Less than 25% of the UK High Street price. Then the money, I'll save on not paying the 25% per head aviation fuel surcharge and a couple of weeks central heating fuel saving is certainly not to be sneezed at, no mega supermarket shop either... So this is what David Cameron means by the Big Society. Dine at the Captains Table even ? No perhaps that is going too far. Why on earth would I possibly want to eat with the staff?

CBS News Laura Logan hitails it out of Cairo and back to the USA

After being detained and held by the Egyptian military on Thursday, CBS News' Chief Foreign Affairs correspondent Lara Logan (pictured above) and crew members Don Lee and Max McClellan have been released and are rapidly making their way back to the warm studio in the United States.
You may ask why none of the intrepid UK TV female and male correspondents in Cairo have been detained by the Egyptian military ( Clue look at the picture!....)

Egyptian Army Abrams Tank

History of the USA designed Abrams Main Battle Tank as used by the Egyptian Army and currently featuring in the Cairo uprisings.

The M1 Abrams or Abrams Main battle tank is a military tank produced in the United States and under licence in Egypt. The Abrams entered service in the U.S. during 1980, replacing the M60 Patton and M48A5.

The Abrams features a well- armed, heavily armored and highly mobile offensive armored ground warfare. Other features include the use of powerful gas turbine engine, a sophisticated composite armor and separate ammunition storage in a blow-out compartment for crew safety.
The Abrams was designed by Chrysler Defense.

An improved version of the M1 was the M1A1, which was introduced in 1985. While the M1A2 was a further improvement of the M1A1 with a commander's independent thermal viewer and weapon station, position navigation equipment, digital data bus and a radio interface unit.
During World War II, an average of 17 rounds took a Sherman Tank to destroy an enemy tank 700 meters way.

Though Abrams remained untested in combat until the Gulf War in 1991, a total of 1,848 M1A1s were deployed in Saudi Arabia. The M1 Abrams is capable of making kills at 2500m range. The M1A1 Battle Tank also proved to be effective in the Gulf War.

Further upgrades include depleted uranium armor for all variants.
During Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and for Bosnia, some M1A1s were modified with armor upgrades.

There are over 8,800 M1 and M1A1 tanks produced at $2,350,000- $4,300,000 per unit depending on the variant.

TV stations might like to purchase a few of the models for 'sandpit' mock ups of Cairo, Egypt crisis
