|Etihad Airbus A340-600|
On October 24th 2014, an Etihad Airbus A340-600, registration A6-EHI on flight EY-12 from London Heathrow, to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, maintaining flight level 350 about 50 nm northwest of Bratislava (Slovakia) after the hand over from Czech to Slovakia's air traffic control when the number 2 engine (Rolls Royce Trent 556, inboard left) failed.
The crew descended the aircraft to flight level 310, over Hungary, then a descent to flight level 290. The crew managed to restart the engine. The aircraft climbed back to FL330, continued the flight to Abu Dhabi step climbing up to flight level 390 and landed safely in Abu Dhabi.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Abu Dhabi for about 27 hours before resuming service. An incident report was filed.
