An Essex man has been arrested and detained at Stansted Airport after driving his car into a security barrier, near an office building close to the terminal.
Armed Police attended a car park at the Essex airport just after 4.30pm on Monday following a high level security alert.
Essex Police reported that a 21-year-old Enfield male was in custody, and being questioned at the airport police detention centre, on suspicion of public order offences. Officers evacuated the area while they searched the suspects vehicle. The incident caused delays on Stansted Express trains, which terminated at Bishop Stortford.
A spokesman for Stansted airport commented: "While police investigate, there is an automatic exclusion zone around the vehicle. Flights are still coming and going but the incident is having a detrimental effect on our trains."
