|Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly|
UK Broadcaster SkyTV has confirmed it is in takeover negotiations with 21st Century Fox after receiving an approach from the US media giant.
Sky plc said the two companies had reached an outline agreement on an offer price of £10.75 per share, but other terms still remain to be agreed and are under discussion. Any agreement will be subject to Government review, as it could be held that a too large a percentage of the UK media would be concentrated under one owner.
In addition the OFCOM regulator may require disposals or renegotiation of various holdings as the Sky EPG is effectively the gatekeeper for a multiplicity of independent commercial and community television channels.
The company issued a statement after shares in Sky PLC rose 32% to 1040 amid rumours of Fox's interest.
*** There is apparently no truth in the rumour that long term former Sky Breakfast anchor Eamonn Holmes being approached to co-host a Fox News style revamp of the stations entire news international output with co-host Megyn Kelly.
